Meet the Founder

Kanika Khattar is a corporate lawyer with 10+ years of in-house and advisory experience across contracts, M&A, data privacy, regulatory compliance, and IP. She founded Impactive to give growth-stage businesses the kind of embedded, proactive legal counsel that was previously only available to large corporates, at a fractional cost.

Throughout her career, Kanika has served as the legal backbone for organizations operating across multiple jurisdictions, handling the full spectrum of legal and regulatory matters for complex multi-entity groups and reporting directly to senior leadership. Her forte includes providing advisory on entity structuring, M&A, cross-border regulatory compliance, data privacy, IP protection, and employment law across some of the most demanding international regulatory environments in the world. She knows what it means to run a lean legal function across multiple jurisdictions with no margin for error making decisions in real time, with real commercial consequences.

On data privacy, Kanika brings rare practitioner-level depth. She has structured and negotiated Data Processing Agreements, International Data Transfer Agreements, and Standard Contractual Clauses across UK-India, UK-Australia, US-UK, US-India, Japan -India, and UK-Vietnam transfer corridors. She has conducted DPIAs for high-risk processing activities and designed group-wide data governance frameworks for international operations long before DPDP compliance became a boardroom conversation in India.

On AI governance, Kanika is one of a small number of lawyers in India who combines deep commercial legal experience with genuine, practitioner-level expertise in AI regulation. She holds a certification in AI: Law, Policy and Governance from the London School of Economics and actively advises corporates and AI application builders on AI governance frameworks, patent strategies, technology risk, responsible AI frameworks, and emerging technology contracts.
